About
Architecto is a Hamilton-based architecture and design studio creating residential, commercial, educational and industrial projects throughout Hamilton, the Waikato and selected projects further afield.
Founded in 2016 by Registered Architect Paul Crawford, the practice is built on the belief that architecture should respond thoughtfully to people, place and purpose. We work closely with clients to understand not only what they need from a building, but how they want to live, work and interact within it.
Our projects range from bespoke homes and multi-unit developments through to schools, community facilities, workplaces and industrial buildings. While each project is unique, our approach remains consistent: careful listening, rigorous problem-solving and a commitment to creating enduring architecture that balances functionality, creativity and environmental responsibility.
We believe successful design is collaborative. By bringing together client aspirations, site opportunities and technical expertise, we create buildings that add lasting value and positively contribute to the communities they serve.

Our work spans residential, commercial, educational and industrial projects throughout New Zealand. Regardless of scale or sector, we approach every project with the same commitment to thoughtful design, technical rigour and collaboration. From early feasibility and master planning through to detailed design and project delivery, we create architecture that responds to people, place and purpose.

With more than 30 years of combined experience, we design homes throughout Hamilton and the Waikato, ranging from alterations and renovations to new homes, lifestyle properties and larger multi-unit developments.

We work across commercial, hospitality and industrial sectors throughout Hamilton and the Waikato, including office interiors, fitouts, mixed-use developments and community-focused projects that bring together retail, hospitality and workplace environments.

We aspire to make a positive impact on the lives of the people and the communities our buildings serve. Architecto currently have the privilege of working alongside a number of community schools as the lead design consultant across various locations including Horsham Downs, Karapiro, Puahue and Tatuanui. Project type and scale range from internal refurbishments, additions and extensions to new build components.
We are also involved with a number of local childcare providers designing purpose built facilities in newly established communities across Hamilton and Auckland.
